今年安大略省议会要进行换届选举，选举工作由安大略省选举机构Election Ontario负责。为此安大略省选举机构，需要招募大量的临时工作人员来组织投票工作。草根也申请了其中一个岗位，一则希望亲身体验一下选举，二则还有钱赚。这个工作不是“义工”，是有工资的可拿的。
上岗之前要进行相关的培训，培训时间大约是三个小时。草根的岗位DRO是英文Deputy Returning Officer的简写，整个团队都是由各种Deputy Returning Officer和Assistant组成。说到Deputy Returning Officer这个岗位的中文意思，还真不太好翻译，毕竟以前没有接触过选举。在国内不用咱亲自动手，党和国家都把一切安排好了。
不过，在草根给大家介绍过团队的组成和职责后，大家就会对这些个岗位有些了解了。
团队的负责人是SDRO，Supervising Deputy Returning Officer。这个岗位大家可以看作是投票站的“站长”，负责全面工作。
然后是草根的这个DRO，Deputy Returning Officer，您可以把这个岗位看作是“发票人”。草根的职责是核对选举人身份，签发选票，告知选举人投票程序。每个安大略省满18周岁的加拿大公民，会收到一个选举人信息卡Voter Information Card，简称VIC。草根扫描VIC上的条形码，系统里面就会显示出选举人信息。然后核对选举人的身份证明，确认是本人无误后，签发选票，把选票装在一个黑色的信封里交给选举人。如果有人说我是合格选民，但是没有收到VIC卡，或者我的VIC卡丢了，或者我把它扔垃圾箱里了。别笑，真有人这样跟草根说。扔垃圾筒里也没问题，带好自己的身份证明，到RDRO哪里去领取选票。那么RDRO的职责是什么呢？
RDRO，Revision Deputy Returning Officer，可以叫做“特别发票人”，负责处理没有VIC的，或者VIC上信息有变的投票人选票的签发，当然他也可以履行草根的职责。像草根所在的投票站，DRO只有草根一位，RDRO有两位。大多数来投票的人都持有VIC以及身份证明，全部集中到草根这里，有些时候确实忙不过来。规则上也是规定，如果RDRO那边有了空闲，可以处理手持VIC的候选人的选票签发。
选举人拿到DRO或者SDRO签发的选票后，到投票屏风(Voting Screen)后面，在选票上的候选人后面的白圈内，选择自己要投票的候选人划一个叉，然后放到信封里，把选票连同信封交给下一位工作人员TDRO。
整个现场不准拍照录像，草根从YouTube上截几张图，给大家一个填写选票的直观印象。

TDRO，Tabulator Deputy Returning Officer，就是负责收回选票的人，简称“收票人”好了。大家把写好的选票连同信封一起交给TDRO。TDRO会推信封下面的一个缺口，将选票推入投票机。投票机是一个扫描选票的机器，如果选票合格，选票会通过机器落入下面的票箱里，同时机器会记录下来选举结果（当然此时并不会显示）。如果选票不合格，比如画了几个X或者一个都没有划，抑或DRO或者SDRO忘了签发，把空白选票给了投票人，票都会被退回来。所以这个过程中，TDRO会请投票人稍等一下，等选票确认没有问题，投票人就完成了投票过程，可以离开投票站了。最终的选举结果，也是由TDRO从机器上打印出来。
此外还有一个岗位叫做Polling Day Information Assistant，直译过来是“信息助理”，不过草根觉得叫做“引导员”可能更容易让人理解，虽然“引导员”这个词在网络语境里相当贬义了，因为他们的职责是在门口迎候投票人，将投票人指引到适当的位置。持有VIC和身份证明的，排到DRO前面的队。信息不全的，排到RDRO面前的队。如果DRO前面队伍过长，指挥分流一些人到RDRO面前的队。
团队的所有人员都会在身上贴有工作人员的黄色标签，方便投票人识别。
在投票站里面经常走动的还有Scrutineer，就是监票人，他们身上的粘贴的是白色标签。监票人代表某一位候选人观察投票过程，防止作弊，草根身旁给监票人专门留了座位。当然监票人并不一定时时坐在投票站里进行监督，可能在几个投票站来回巡查。草根所在的投票站在投票即将结束之前，两位监票人过来，最后一起核对登记了选举结果。
