对于投票人来说，进入选举站，首先遇到的是“引导员”，“引导员”问候投票人，然后根据情况将投票人指引到适当的位置。发票人核对选举人身份信息，无误后签发选票，然后选举人就可以拿着装在硬纸黑色信封里的选票，到选举站一侧靠墙的屏风后面填写选票。选票填好后，依然放在黑色信封里，拿给收票人。收票人把信封放在投票机上，推信封下面的缺口把选票推入投票机中，然后把信封放在一旁循环使用。屏风、黑信封以及投票方式，都是为了确保这是无记名秘密投票。也就是说，除了您自己，任何人都不知道您投了谁的票，这极大程度地降低了贿选的可能。草根在国内的时候，听说过很多选村长贿选的事情。相信如果采取这种选举程序，贿选便无法实施。你尽可以用金钱收买选民，但是选民收了你的钱，依然可以投票给他人，反正谁也不知道他的票投给了谁，选票上只有DRO或者SDRO的签字。
前来投票的人大都带着VIC和身份证明，因此草根签发的选票最多，一共签发了将近800张选票，占了总票数的一半以上。投票从早上9点到晚上9点一共12个小时，也就是说，草根一个小时要签发60多张，不到一分钟就要签发一张。而投票人来可不是匀着来的，高峰时候签发速度是按秒计算的。更要命的是，还有人来“捣乱”的。有人拿到选票后，宣布放弃投票的权力。可能认为哪一位候选人都不能代表安大略省先进生产力的发展要求，代表安大略省先进文化的前进方向，代表安大略省最广大人民的根本利益。选票可不是随便拿着玩儿的，签发一张后必须进到投票箱里，否则就要收回来。遇到这样的人，草根只能按照程序，把签发给他的选票收回对折，在后面写上“Declined”。
好在草根的工作流程相对简单，扫描VIC卡，核对身份信息，签发选票。加拿大人没有身份证，这样作为身份证明的就可以有很多种东西，最常见的当然是驾照，有些不开车的老人会有安省照片卡。草根的工作手册上列举的可以作为身份证明的文件有18种，除了咱们最常见的汽车驾照和摩托车驾照外，有些东西生活在中国的人可能想都想象不到，仅举几例：水电账单、手机账单、租房证明、房贷协议、学籍证明、学费单、信用卡账单……
既然如此，草根基本上能确认是本人的都给签发了选票，不论拿什么文件，除了拿老公VIC卡的——不许剥夺老公的投票权！
一天下来真的很累，到最后，草根甚至都忘了看一眼我们投票站的投票结果。整个奥克维尔选区的结果是保守党PC Party的STEPHEN CRAWFORD获的了胜利，赢得了24,598张选票，占总票数的43.72%；原省议员自由党Liberal Party的KEVIN FLYNN获得20,122选票，占总数的35.76%；新民主党NDP的LESLEY SPRAGUE获得了9,277张选票；绿党Green Party 的EMILY DE SOUSA获得了1,976张选票；自由意志党Libertarian的SPENCER OKLOBDZIJA获得了294张选票。以上这几位是奥克维尔选区的候选人。
整个安大略省根据人口划分选区，当然也考虑到城镇的区划，选区界限通常以道路和河流等为界。像草根生活的奥克维尔市，有一个多选区。除了奥克维尔选区，奥克维尔Upper Middle路西北，8TH Line西南的区域，被划归北奥克维尔和伯灵顿选区。每个选区产生一位省议员，议员不需要获得多数票，只要在选区内领先即可当选。整个安大略省一共有124个选区，也就是说会选出124位省议员。获得一半以上议席的党的总书记，就会成为省长，而这样的政府就成为“多数政府”。如果哪一个党都没能取得多数，那么领先的党派，可以拉上一个跟自己政治理念差不多的小党派，联合起来超过半数，共同组阁成为执政党，这样的政府叫做“少数政府”。
这次安大略省省选保守党获得大胜，取得了124个议席中的76个，组成多数政府。新民主党获得40个席位，上一届执政的自由党仅仅获得了7席，可谓惨败。剩下的1席，由绿党获得。
