维多利亚公园对面不远有一处历史遗址施耐德故居国家历史遗址(Schneider Haus National Historic Site)。
遗址门口的牌子上面写着因为疫情，开放的时间有所减少，入内参观需要事先购票。
事先购票显然是来不及了，并且关门的时间已经快到。刚好门口的小房里出来一位工作人员，草根问她我就屋外的院子里转一转可以不？她说转吧。
维基百科上说这座房子由约瑟夫(Joseph)和芭芭拉·施耐德(Barbara Schneider)于1816年建造，而不是如外面的牌子上写的1820。当时基奇纳还叫柏林，施耐德一家是19世纪初从宾夕法尼亚兰开斯特县迁来的，第一批宾夕法尼亚德裔门诺派教徒之一。
这座房子是基奇纳现存最古老的房子，想想奥克维尔最古老的房子是哪一座？哪一年的？答案可以在草根的奥村流水账中《最老的房子》里面找到。
看到马路对面也有历史遗址的标识，以为那边还有遗址的另一部分，草根草草转了下就出来来马路对面。结果马路对面只是这个遗址的停车场，这样安排也好，能更多地保留古老的风貌。
